Relocation of factory premises - Compensation / Retrenchment

Unread post by Chavonneh » 15 Mar 2018, 09:36

Good day,
Our factory may be relocating to other premises + - 40km away from where we are now. Most of our staff are factory workers and reside within walking distance to our current location.
How much notice do we need to give them that we will be relocating to other premises?
Must we compensate the staff for travel to our new premises? (The factory workers are lower income and travel fees could have a huge impact on their weekly wages)
If we don''t offer to compensate them and they cant travel do we have to follow the retrenchment process?
If they refuse to accept compensation for travel should they then resign or must we follow retrenchment process?

Please advise.

Thank you.
