Family Responsibility Leave

Unread post by Chavonneh » 05 Sep 2017, 10:41

Good day,
Please can you assist.
Employee has been off sick for 6 weeks. It has been unpaid as he ran out of sick leave. We have requested a work assessment be done before he returns to work. The work assessment was scheduled for this week but his grandmother passed away so they have had to postpone it to next week. He needs to go to the Eastern Cape for the funeral.
Do I need to pay him family responsibility leave for these days even if he has not been at work for 7 weeks and he is not suppose to return before the work assessment has been done?
Please advise.

Good day

Provided he furnishes proof validating his family responsibility leave, you have to pay him the three days (no. of days as per BCEA).
