Incorrect bonus paid

Please can I get some advice.

I was given my annual increase and performance bonus letter in November 2016. Part of the letter stated that I received a rating of 3 on my PA, and that indicated that I meet targets etc most of the time. It further stated that based on that rating I qualified for a 70% bonus.

I then got paid my Bonus along with my salary in December. When I calculated the bonus amount, it was incorrect, and did not amount to 70%, but was less. This appeared to be the same for some of my colleagues. We then emailed our HR and asked them to follow up on this, our HR then responded and said that the bonuses paid were correct, and that the letters given were corrupt and incorrect data was displayed, and that they will give out new letters-till now, no new letter have been given.

After paying us, can they tell us that the bonus letter was incorrect?

What can I do to resolve this matter?
